Chitin digestibility and intestinal exochitinase activity in Nile tilapia and rainbow trout fed different black soldier fly larvae meal size fractions

چکیده

Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae meal (BSFLM) is a novel fish feed ingredient with high crude protein content (~40% dry matter, DM). However, BSFLM also contains chitin, which might impair nutrient digestibility. To investigate the effect of chitin on digestibility and chitinase activity in fish, different contents were tested as ingredients for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). was sieved into three size fractions obtaining contents: 0–200 ?m (fine), 200–400 (medium), >400 (coarse), 1.8, 2.7 15.4% DM basis, respectively. Four isoenergetic isonitrogenous diets formulated each species including an experimental reference diet replacing 25% matrix one fractions. Dietary inclusion coarse fraction resulted significantly lower apparent DM, protein, nitrogen-free extract when compared other treatment groups both species, supports hypothesis that act anti-nutrient. it found could digest but its decreased higher dietary level. Furthermore, ?-N-acetylglucosaminidase (exochitinase) increased proximal distal intestine suggesting exochitinase production can be upregulated depending intake. Overall, results corroborate source well anti-nutrient trout.

In this study, fish meal (FM) was replaced by the black soldier fly maggot meal (BSFM) with replacement levels at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The feeding trial was conducted for 56 days and the effect of each replacement level on the growth performance, feed utilization, body composition and survival of the experimental fish was assessed. All the experimental diets were well accepted by the fis...

Effects of Substitution of Fish Meal with Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) Larvae Meal, in Yellow Catfish

An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate effects of replacing fish meal (FM) with black soldier fly larvae meal (BSF) on growth performance, feed utilization, and plasma parameters, for juvenile yellow catfish, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. Six isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets were prepared substituting the FM protein with BSF protein in the following amounts: 0 (control group), 10% (BSF...

Apparent digestibility coefficients and nutritional value of Iranian cottonseed meal varieties for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Three different varieties of cottonseed meal (CSM) were evaluated to measure the apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC) of the nutrients using chromic oxide (Cr2O3) as an indigestible marker. Five experimental diets were prepared and mixed with 1% of Cr2O3, 2% of mineral and vitamin each of which were premixed. Diet 1 was used as the control diet. Diets 2, 3, 4 and 5 were formulated using 70...
